IL MATRIMONIO DI PHIL ELVERUM

Sembra uno di quei film di amori, tragedie e amori che vincono sulle tragedie: lui è Phil Elverum aka Mount Eerie, che di recente ha dedicato due album alla moglie scomparsa prematuramente per un cancro. Lei Michelle Williams, nota per film come Brokeback Mountain, Blue Valentine, Manchester by the Sea (e per Dawson’s Creek, certo), ma anche per essere la vedova di Heath Ledger. I due si sono sposati in segreto, in una cerimonia sui monti Adirondack con pochi amici e le rispettive figlie. Il prossimo album di Mount Eerie sarà più gioioso? Glielo auguriamo di cuore.

PAUL MCCARTNEY TORNA A ABBEY ROAD

Ancora mosse promozionali e operazioni nostalgia per il nuovo album di Sir Paul, che stavolta ha attraversato le strisce pesonali di Abbey Road per ricreare in solitaria 49 anni dopo lo scatto della copertina dell’omonimo album, che fra l’altro è uno degli “indizi” che sostengono la teoria della sua morte e sostituzione con un sosia. Stavolta, per sicurezza, si è messo le scarpe.

AL DISCOUNT DEL CBGB

La catena americana di grandi magazzini low-cost Target ha aperto un nuovo punto vendita nell’East Village di New York, e per adeguarsi all’atmosfera di uno dei quartieri simbolo del punk ha ricreato la facciata del mitico locale CBGB, cambiando la scritta in TRGT. Va da sé che non tutti hanno gradito l’operazione.

BILLY CORGAN NON È IL PADRE DI TAYLOR SWIFT

Chi è stato giovane negli anni novanta probabilmente ricorderà la leggenda metropolitana che voleva che Billy Corgan fosse il bambino protagonista del telefilm SuperVicky. Purtroppo non era così, ma il soggetto evidentemente si presta a curiose illazioni del genere, e stavolta la voce, basata su una presunta somiglianza, era che il leader degli Smashing Pumpkins fosse il padre di Taylor Swift. Invece di farsi una risata e passare oltre, Corgan ha scritto due post fiume in cui nega la paternità e si lancia in dissertazioni filosofiche su identità, “concetti di immagine/autostima/Dio/amore per se stessi”, verità e falsità nell’era dei social, Billy Corgan che “non esiste. O, se esiste (in questi tempi), è una creazione dalla mia mente alla vostra, e non è diverso da un cartone come Batman o Sponge Bob”, paternità, Capitano Kirk.

You have to love the Internets. Seems this is a new meme going around (someone sent this to me) where I guess the question is(?): Is T Swift my child. Hmm… I’ll take the compliment of the comparison here despite the fact that I guess the jokes on me? (and not the lovely and talented Miss Swift) Which becomes a good starting point back into where I left off last time; on notions of image/self-esteem/God/and self-love. But before I do let me express how I continue to be blown away by the number of messages I am receiving regarding these issues. There simply is no end to how many are struggling, and it seems to have some connection to this modern or Digital Age culture we are living in. Where what’s real is just as relevant, or so it appears, as to what is constructed, fake or false. Where a real you must negotiate time-space next to the more shiny or dark social media avatar of you, and so on and so forth up the food chain of governments and endless celebrity. Each tier of human life augmented to the point where what you no longer know what, or whom, to believe in; including God. And for those new to the game, it is easiest for me to speak of my own experience. So please consider that I do so as illustration. Take from it as you will… There is NO such person as ‘Billy Corgan’. He (BC) does not exist. Or, if he does exist (per these times), he is a creation from my mind to yours, and no different than a cartoon drawing of Batman or Sponge Bob. Trace the route: from 1967 to 1985 I was Bill Corgan, born WPC. My father was known to us as Billy, so he does exist, but the ‘Billy’ I speak of, the one who made records with SP and appeared on chat shows, was a creation. And I still remember the day around age 18 when I told someone, ‘don’t call me Bill anymore. I am Billy now…’ Now why would I do such a thing? Because Bill, or Little Bill as I was known to the family, was beaten, harassed, broken and discarded over so many years, and in so many separate instances (let’s say the number of disassociative events is in the thousands) that he (Bill) was WORTHLESS to me. JOHN LYDON PER LE TARTARUGHE NINJA

In Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, la nuova serie animata sulle tartarughe Ninja, ci sarà un personaggio chiamato Meat Sweats, un cattivo dalle sembianze di maiale mutante, e per dargli la voce è stato scelto John Lydon. La nuova incarnazione del cantante di Sex Pistols e P.I.L. si potrà vedere e sentire da settembre su Nickelodeon.
