A sorpresa è uscito un nuovo album di Kendrick Lamar, GNX
Prima il nuovo video teaser di GNX di Kendrick Lamar e poi, poco dopo, ecco il nuovo album in streaming, su tutte le piattaforme. La seconda traccia Squabble Up, è stata presentata in anteprima nel video musicale di Not Like Us, la traccia del dissing tra il rapper di Compton e Drake che durante il mese di maggio ha tenuto tutti attaccati ai botta e risposta tra i due. La terza traccia, Luther, vede la partecipazione dell’ex compagna di etichetta di Lamar alla Top Dawg Entertainment, SZA e Kamasi Washington. Jack Antonoff, invece si è occupato della produzione.
L’ultimo album ufficiale è stato Mr. Morale & The Big Stepper, pubblicato nel 2022. Nel 2024, a maggio, K-Dot ha poi lanciato un dissing a J.Cole uscito nell’album collaborativo di Future e Metro Boomin nella traccia Like That in cui partecipava anche Lamar. Dopo la risposta di J.Cole, successivamente subentra il canadese Drake e Kendrick Lamar risponde con alcune diss-track come Euphoria, Meet the Grahams e infine Not Like Us.
Nel 2025 sarà protagonista dell’Halftime Show del 59esimo Super Bowl, per la prima volta in solitaria dopo che nel 2022 insieme a Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem e Mary J. Blige aveva fatto la sua apparizione nello speciale evento.

Come detto, Jack Antonoff (fondatore del progetto solista The Bleachers) è il produttore dell’album e appare anche come ingegnere di studio. Trovate Kamasi Washington e SZA e altri rapper di Los Angeles come AzChike e Lefty Gunplay. GNX vanta anche crediti di produzione del produttore e collaboratore di lunga data di Kendrick Lamar, Sounwave. E poi c’è la musicista e cantante Ink (all’anagrafe Atia Boggs) presente in cinque delle dodici tracce come vocalist. Il mastering del disco invece è affidato a Ruairi O’Flaherty ingegnere di Los Angeles che ha lavorato con Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey e molti altri.
