Dave Smith, fondatore dell’azienda di sintetizzatori Sequential e coinventore del MIDI, è morto a 72 anni
“È con il cuore pesante che condividiamo la notizia della morte di Dave Smith. Abbiamo il cuore spezzato, ma ci conforta un po’ sapere che era in viaggio per fare ciò che amava di più in compagnia della famiglia, degli amici e degli artisti”, si legge sui social della Sequential Circuits, l’azienda fondata da Smith, dove fra le altre cose nel 1977 creò il Prophet 5, il primo sintetizzatore analogico polifonico completamente programmabile. L’ingegnere californiano, che avrebbe dovuto presenziare alla fiera NAMM, è noto anche per il suo ruolo essenziale nello sviluppo della tecnologia MIDI.
