La Sun Ra Arkestra ha diffuso i dettagli del nuovo album Swirling, che uscirà il 9 ottobre via Strut, a oltre 20 anni dal precedente A Song for the Sun. Il disco è stato registrato a Philadelphia e prodotto insieme a Jim Hamilton dal sassofonista Marshall Allen, attuale leader del collettivo fondato da Sun Ra negli anni 50. Alle registrazioni ha partecipato anche il sassofonista e manager Danny Ray Thompson, scomparso a marzo all’età di 72 anni.
Insieme all’annuncio è stato condiviso il singolo Angels and Demons at Play, nuova versione della title track dell’album del 1965.
