È James Blake il vincitore del Mercury Prize di quest’anno con Overgrown: la proclamazione ha avuto sede alla Roundhouse di Londra. Ogni anno, il Mercury Prize premia il miglior album del Regno Unito. James Blake aveva già ricevuto una nomination nel 2011, per il suo album omonimo, ma aveva vinto PJ Harvey con Let England Shake.
Momento risata: la presentatrice Lauren Laverne ha accidentalmente presentato Blake come “James Blunt”, e ha poi auto-ironicamente scherzato anche in un tweet (citando “You’re beautiful”, appunto, di James Blunt).

Blake, insieme al titolo, si porta a casa anche un assegno da 20 mila sterline. Vincitori degli anni passati sono stati gli Alt-J, PJ Harvey, the xx, Pulp, Portishead, Arctic Monkeys, Antony and the Johnsons, Franz Ferdinand e altri (qui potete rileggere la lista delle nomination di quest’anno).
