The Lyrics è il titolo del memoir di Paul McCartney, in uscita il prossimo autunno, in cui l’ex Beatles ripercorre la sua vita e la sua carriera attraverso i testi di 154 brani. “Mi hanno chiesto innumerevoli volte di scrivere un’autobiografia”, scrive nella prefazione, “ma non era mai il momento giusto. L’unica cosa che sono sempre riuscito a fare, a casa o in tour, è scrivere nuove canzoni. So che ad alcune persone, quando raggiungono una certa età, piace tenere un diario per ricordare giorno per giorno gli eventi del passato, ma io non ho nessun taccuino. Quello che ho sono le mie canzoni, centinaia, che ho capito avere più o meno lo stesso scopo. E queste canzoni attraversano tutta la mia vita. Spero che quello che ho scritto mostrerà alle persone qualcosa sulle mie canzoni e sulla mia vita che ancora non conoscono. Ho provato a dire qualcosa sul modo in cui avviene la musica e cosa significa per me e che spero possa significare anche per gli altri”.
